Cracked #4 exhaust manifold.
#1
About a month ago, son's '92 1.6l 16v 4-dr sidekick started occasionally running very badly. Usually after he had driven 10 - 15 miles away. Turns out the # 4 exhaust pipe is cracked. My guess is this will jack the O2 sensor up badly. On a previous thread I noticed someone had trouble replacing their exhaust manifold. Are 16v exhaust manifolds still difficult to obtain? Is there a way to patch this?

yes that large crack will suck in air and make the 02 go nuts. some early small cracks don't and may be larger or smaller cold the hot. even change going up a hill.
a pro welding shop can heat it in an oven and weld it (cast iron rod), and about 1/2 fail after doing that, takes luck and skill..
no , Suzuki still sells them , mine cost me $170
and 3 aftermarket makers, most are not EPA legal to run, for sure in in California.

the 92 has 2 manifold for 16v, the calif, and the federal. shorty or long header . 2 bolt or 3 bolt header.
see the matrix here (table) for all suzuki manifolds, 8v/16v/cal/fed.

I wondered what happened to my previous reply. I had asked about replacing the left end exhaust manifold bolt and nut as I had lost mine. You needed to know if my 'zuk was California emmisions or not because there are at least 4 types. Mine is not California emissions. it's a 4 dr 16 v 1.6 L automatic. Thanks.
