By passing ECU
#1
Hello I’m new to the group, I have recently bought a 1992 side kick mainly used for off road. My question is, if my ECU or Fuel pump relay were to fail on me while out in the bush and the fuel pump would not start, could they be bypassed and just have power from a circuit power the fuel pump? What I’m getting at is there a bush fix if the ECU craps out on you while out in the bush.

sorry im so slow.
but yes all fuel pumps can be hot wired,
it is only a 12vdc motor drive to it.
the problem is if the injectors (8v has 1, TBI and 16v has 4 MPI injectors
if and injector leaks you get a huge nasty fire.
and the crash and burn logic in the ECU is now defeated, and very dangerous

is this 8v or 16v engine, top of 16valve cover says 16valves, a huge clue.
there is lots to crap out on any EFI based engine
the ECU
the injectors
the ECT, the MAP, the CMP and the CKP(96 up)
those are show stoppers
or a clogged fuel filter or pump and relays.

yes but is not wise. but it is your risk. in the bush.
do not catch smokey bear on fire ok?

one can make a fake fuel pump relay
lid off make the contacts fused.
as in bypassed, now then , if struck later.
pull the new bogus relay out of the glove box, and put in in the FP relay socket. bingo endless fuel. key on.
if you see raw fuel running below the exhaust manifold (like river), RUN like mad to the hills.
