Cold start/idle Issue!

Question about "the gasket trick"............Is the TBI base gasket supposed to be solid at all times or just for the troubleshooting steps you're describing? I have a 90 Tracker, 5spd, 4WD. I usually have to cut out the arch in your picture (red arrows) whenever I replace the gasket (not sure why they don't come pre-cut) but I wasn't sure about the holes.

The 3sp auto  car has base electric heater that is why so many odd gaskets. seen in the top sold kits for this.
what matters is the 3 holes (called drilling must be blocked.

the arced slot only needs one hole to to work


off my TB slide show and more.  , but this tells all you need,  x5 blocks, must be, slot open  fully or any place in that path or vacuum devices go dead.
