Rhino software and ALDL Cable...WIN! - cosmic_splatter - 08-02-2014

hello, I'm redacting this page for Rhinoman
he does not sell the old kits that use virtual serial ports. VSP.
his is now redesign the correct way, a kit that uses real USB chips, direct.
and works best on all PC's made with USB ports.
the screens may look same.
contact the maker for a kit
they are made to order
and not sold in stores,
no stores.
and fits only G16s, (WITH EXCEPTIONS MANY)
kNOW THAT SUZUKI HAS 100S OF ECU AND SOME RUN unique sensors, one is ECT.
so that must match up, and more.

here is the old software, no longer supported. its now evolved to way better, everything.... google rhinoman OBD1 tools

It's pretty cool stuff. What's tft and ltft in the lower right? II'll post some more screen grabs later today.

RE: Rhino software and ALDL Cable...WIN! - fixkick - 08-03-2014

easy.
fuel trim, (tft is an error its really STFT, short term fuel trim.) GM calls it something else. but the names are no all at ASE/SAE.ORG names.

read the wiki on OBD2 fuel trim, the scaling on OBD1 is different but works just like your new car does, called fuel trim.

He has some built in tools to do the same in rhinoview. Will post some fun stuff once I get my egr issues fixed.

WAAAAA I WANT ONE

RE: Rhino software and ALDL Cable - fixkick - 09-09-2014

this is the old cable , translator interface.
THE RHINOMAN SYSTEM NO LONGER SUPPORTS VIRTUAL SERIAL PORTS VSP,
IT USES NOW USB DIRECT. A FAR BETTER WAY , SO BUY IT NOW.

THIS IS WHAT USED TO WORK
BEFORE THAT I USES REAL RS-232 PORT,. NOW MISSING ON ALL PC'S

THIS IS FOR HISTORY NOW.

I just found this site - great one!
Regarding this topic (OBD1 interface) and some info on the fixkick.com - these interfaces are available.
Rhinoman has it's own design in offer.
Also I made similar OBD1 cable available for local users (here in Poland, Europe). Additionally I wrote my own software for it Smile
Some pics: http://skeletondevices.com/images/album_sd-1/SD1/index.html
I have also experimental prototype of standalone device similar to scangauge. It doesn't need external pc to diagnose car ecu.
Currently it works with pre-obd2 suzuki models - vitara, tracker, kick, baleno (aka esteem)

Just for the record Smile

Regards

regards, yes I do have ways to do this too.
but why no sell it. your self, sell it on EBAY.
the protocol is simple, we have it . (uses a checksum formattted command set that im sure you have discovered, , we use the Tech1 scanner with a Rs232 , communications analyzer to get the commands ) other reverse engineered the ECU ROM op codes.
only the signal levels are tricky,
and the mapping. of data.
here is my data map

You can see few pics here: http://skeletondevices.com/images/album_sd-v/sdv/index.html
Case is rather lame - as I wrote, this is just prototype
Unfortunately all text is in polish...

Yes, standalone device shows closed/open loop status (and few others, eg electrical load or idle switch position).
I put inside also some logic for showing fuel economy for eco-people and distance meters for offroaders.
Not sure what do you mean by "drop the ball"? English is not my native language and I not always catch meaning.

Rhinoview software is somehow closed - the latest version works only with original interfaces (made by rhinoman) and can not be adjusted by end user.
My software is wide configurable. And by the way, it's free Smile
As I have no chance to test all available suzukis, I exposed the tables to edit values (PID addresses, mapping, multiplication factors, etc) by the users. This allows to setup a common database which can be shared among all obd1-suzuki owners.
You can download and see at least some screens and functionality.

Regards

RE: Rhino software and ALDL Cable...WIN! - fixkick - 10-09-2014

the obd1 tool can work but fail for specific features.
one is ECT, sensors, SUzuki uses many sensors, world wide , and the software must figure out what ETC table to use for your sensors.
even the mighty TECH1, (now gone) made the blunder, but later corrected it with a upgraded plug in. ETC reads way wrong, one guy replaced ECT and thermostat many times, then found the truth , here,
The tool must have language files. (question one plugged in/?)
There are other variances, like what does the VITARA made by Santana of Spain use.? (we find out it works but some fails for ETC)
cheers !

why not sell it. on ebay.
or sell it to someone who will, (sell the blue sky value)
