RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - brocklanders - 08-08-2014 Ok unplugged the 02 sensor and pulled the dome fuse, flashed 12 until I started it and as soon as the idle changed it flashed 53 going to check the ecm connectors in a few. The hood sticker is fed see attached. RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - brocklanders - 08-08-2014 See photo b17 has a wire and b15 reads -12.6 volts. B14 0 volts and has resistance RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - fixkick - 08-08-2014 hello and good morning. 58B30 is listed as E3 (fed only) and these cars have no IAT sensor on Air cleaner case. the hood sticker shows,a federal only cars. why does it have a wire here.? so b17 why red-green wire is populated on a Fed only car, this is odd. why would fed car have a calif harness. very odd. answer? Your ECU is expecting a calif EGR for some odd reason.. is my new guess. (even though the p/n lists E3 fed only, ) my guess is there is some load on the red-green wire, or expects one. shocking fact about that B17 reg-green wire is there. (thanks for photo proof. wow) so now we do 2 more checks. 1: see if that red-green wire makes it to the back of engine on a 2 pin connector near EGR. (you told me there is no calif, egr there ,but there must be a connector, my guess) 1a: if the wire is there , connect a 10,000 ohm resistor to it, 53s gone. 1b: if the wire is not, in the bay, we can cut this wire say 6 inches from ECU and see of code 53 stops or add a resistor. the suzuki parts list states there is no themoprobes on Fed 93 Sidekicks,, its very clear. i snap a photo of that. but forget that now, we do the proof testing. b17 shows battery, this means there are no shorts or loads on that wire, that pin has a +12v battery pull up resistor on that pin, and if there was a load, the pin voltage is way lower. in fact http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/EGR/92-95-16V-thermoprobe.jpg http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/EGR/egr-and-thermo.JPG 53 means resistor missing, 12.6v, reading (DMM) means it is missing. the EGRT. guess 2 resistor, if your ECU is smarter, (nah,) is a 100,000 (100k) resistor (winter temp) might end 53s and startup 51s. (CAL style) the Calif ecu can actually measure that the thermistor is missing, my guess, over say 500k ohms? tricky it is. what i dont know is if some FED ecu's SCAN for Calif ,parts. in later, 1993 cars... here are the rules for this pin: B17 called EGRT. Data Points (factory spec) for the EGRT: source Pg, 6E99 FSM. ( has a graph plot and test procedure) 212 RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - fixkick - 08-09-2014 http://www.fixkick.com/EGR-H3LL.html made a new page, just for H3LL 53s RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - brocklanders - 08-09-2014 Damn I think I see a thermo probe wire see attached. Man the PO really screwed me on this one so if I understood you correctly I now need to either just unplug the sensor or wire a 10k resistor in line with b17? Will this solve the issue with the cali harness and fe d ecu? I am pretty sure the hood is factory as there is no color difference so unless the paint was a perfect match with fading/ clear coat and orange peel I would say its original. Thank you for all of the help I would have been screwed without your site and help. RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - fixkick - 08-09-2014 if attached, do not tray to remove the actual sensor, it will be seized. and we test it first. must read about 200,000 ohms at room temp if infinity ohms, it's bad. and is why ECU is mad. the ecu on your car is some special version ive never seen. there are NY, version, it might for New York. this car is a code 50a car. the parts lists shows this options, but does not not state why it exists. only that it does. (it says read notes. and are missing) this topic is the most complex of all topics, EGR , issues are very hard, only due to lack stickers on ECU and on hood. you are very close now... my guess is the sensor is unplugged, corroded conn. or burned open sensor, just put in 10k and call it spiffy.? the key wire is red- with green stripe its not easy finding dirty wires and a harness full of unused options,, on car. not at all i wonder if the EGR even has the EGR +EGRT port? at all, if not its a wrong EGR. if the connector is there. the suzuki pn is (id 36 on drawing) 18216-56b00 $127 at the monster https://monsterfactoryparts.com/parts/1995/Suzuki/Sidekick/index.cfm?siteid=217481 but there must be place to screw it in........ now we see why folks like 3 cent resistors... RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - brocklanders - 08-09-2014 Thank you I will pick up a 10K resistor and solder it in under the dash ease the burden of splitting the harness. Thank you!!!! Wait. Since the ECU is FED wouldn't just cutting/ unplugging the wire work? RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - fixkick - 08-09-2014 your welcome and thanks for sharing ,never seen the 50a option car, only the warnings of it in the EPC catalog... i updated my egr hell page. to match that. RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - brocklanders - 08-09-2014 Would you like some more photos of anything while I am into it for reference? I will probably not get around to messing with it this weekend because I have to visit the in-laws but I will post updates as soon as I have a chance!!! RE: 1993 Sidekick JX CEL issues - fixkick - 08-09-2014 im good that ecu photo of this connector , is choice !!! thanks. |
