I'D BET non of this is permanent water damage, just random even all cars this old do.
spark plug caps got wet and when dry spark is good. for sure on the faster drying 8v.
misfire would be water under the distributor cap easy.
or worse (whole distrib full of water and is not waterproof at all. resistant use if the gaskets there, most are missing under cap.
