Swapping KMpH cluster into MpH tracker
Hi, I read the page on the clusters and all the differences but I just want to confirm before I try.

I have a 1998 2 door tracker, auto trans, 4x4. Speedo is in mph. I have the kmph cluster out of a 1998 2 door, auto trans, 4x4 sidekick. Both have some trans/axle so is this a direct swap?

To my understanding the gears on the transfer case output only change with the drivetrain? And the calibration for km/miles must be in the head?

My speedo is also super loud and bouncey. Is it correct this loudness is in the cluster no the cable?

Thanks

RE: Swapping KMpH cluster into MpH tracker
the , trail shaft on the 4.x4 transfer case runs different plastic gears
for all 4 transmissions. (and if out side usa many different axle ratios)

the connectors on the rear of speedo head must match too.

see teeth here, in this table. (only for our axles usa)

if the cable is not dry up top, the head has bad bearings in the needle assembly
good luck

Ok so if I have the same transmission and the connectors match I’m good to go for direct swap?

there are many variances.
but yes, the head click counts are same, clicks per mile or turns pre mile (VSS is a reed clicker tells PCM speed)
the transmission speed gears are all different. per trans /axle setups. world wide, there are more

the head connector matches, connectors and pins. 13 x 10 x16 (3 connectors, and this is the pin count 96-98
Calif or federal ? is calif 55 mph limited,? i forget.
bit tacho , yes tachometer.
the heads very by if 4x4 or 2wd
and for OD lamps, 4wd lamp. and more. extra lamps is not a problem.
and for MPH usa, kmh Canada.
and abs or no abs
