will crank but not start
#1
I am trying to trouble shoot this problem. I have a
98 Suzuki Jimny GF-JB33W. Engine is a G13B. All stock. 50,000 Kms.
Engine quit while driving.
It will run if fuel is manually drizzled into intake.
No codes showing, if there was any I lost them by the battery being disconnected. If I ground diagnosis terminal it just shows code 12.
Fuel pressure is 39 PSI and will hold that at least overnight.
TPS has 5 volts to it and between .5 up to 4.9 when throttle is manually adjusted.
All 4 injector wire circuits have 11.6 ohms resistance.

The Suzuki manual I have that shows the trouble shooting flowcharts keeps saying to replace the ECM with known good one. I don't have a known good one. Is there anything else or what is the next step to check.
It runs like a top as long as I pour fuel into it yet the fuel pressure test look fine. Is something telling the ECM to not inject?

welcome GYMKnee
JImny, (aka Samurai here)
G13b, MPI engine, 4 injectors
your data above is all great.
the CEL works and ECU makes spark so ECU is ok, 99% so.,,, hope says all is.

YOur injectors are not firing
the TPS reads near 1v, good so its not cut fuel mode (4v up) doing this.
so is cmp ;ckp dead. (first bite of the dog)

Factory books are horrid at diagnosis, they just give lists, that are not in order of likely, ECU is last on that list , for at least reasons of huge cost. $400 here,,
sparks good, engines good
fuels dead.

a good book would say.
this. IMO
check spark x4, all good, and test fuel runs (Great) !!!
next:
scan pcm here in usa any OBD2 tools all work but not outside usa, we invented OBD2, standard.
so we scan it while cranking and it tells me CMP or CKP is dead, (cranked for 5 full SECONDS is my rule) p03xx errors, we see em and fix bad sensors.
but we have no scan tool you say.(next)
cave man way1: (its ok, and good, do it)
so you insert the diagnostic jumper,in the 2 DLC pins,
key on,
1: it flashes 12s all day, see ECU is NOT DEAD. it;s processing great.
2: you crank for 5 second (1 potato ,2 ...)
3: release key, flash codes not 12>?
4: wait 1 full minute here, any codes for CKP or CMP pop:?
5: key off now.

way3, not in the book
we use a lab scope at CMP and CKP
omg one is dead, or wires to it damaged.
some sensors are HALL, and need 12v or 5vdc to work we check that too.. first. i dont have your schematic so can wax smarter.

good luck to you ! and do ask questions.

this is suz, generic
what is your market code?, with that i can answer 10x better looking at your non usa parts list.
what is your 24? as seen below. non usa chassis tag next to main Battery.

JDM, very illegal those here, some are devoid of all smog parts, no cat, no egr , no 02.
worse is the book on it is only in Japanese language.
ouch
i have zero data on any JDM, never heard any one have it.

find the CMP and CKP
crank sensors IS below the front crank pulley, see 2 or 3 wire device there? sure.
the cam sensor is in the base of the distributor, oops no distributor.. id have done better with photo of engine, , nobody has JDM books outside JAPAN.
the distributor has part number on side, i can look it up. but its not there is it.

all 1998 canada cars are OBD2 compliant, how can this car be OBD2 compliant if imported 2 year ago, its not.
we cont import JDM in USA ever. very EPA banned, here.

see side of the distributor
see that LV connector
inspect it for damage or rust, there.
wire damage , rust, or? just look at it. carefully for damage of any kind,
this the twin cam G13B?
this has tone wheel on front of crank im looking in the drawing of the parts book
CKP is there.
wow a chain drive DOHC.
no distributor.
2 sensors, cmp and ckp
both need to work.
2 COP coil;s one for 1-4 cyl, one for 2-3 cylinder
is this your engine.?
find the 2 sensors, the parts list does no show where they fit.

but the CKP must be at that front crank pulley read, at the tone wheel there.
the CMP must be on the end of the 2 cams.
4 corners of head. must be. 2 cams, 4 ends, 1 sensor.

there you go.
i have p/n of parts if this G13b is twin cam.

ah wiki saves me
its G13BB, its not a B.
BB is very different, 1998 to 2003
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_G_engine#G13BB

its BB
now we know what is there, exactly.

that be super hard.
so send photos of your engine
got distributor
how many cams.
got 2 COPS or 4.
got chain cam or belt.
type 2,3,4 is what that is all about, gas. (petrol)

for sure not M13 engine, ok. B13 something...

Do these stop spark and fuel or only spark or only fuel.
If they stop spark then I don't understand how it can run on test fuel.
