X-90 clutch cable help
#1
Hi,
Me again
Can anyone help me on how to change the clutch cable on the X-90 ?
The trans end is easy enough but gettin under the dash I can just barley see and feel where the cable attaches to the peddle.
I've got the speedo pod out and the other plastic but this looks to be a pain. Do I need to take the hole peddle assembly out ?
Help!!
The new clutch I just put in has no "feel" to it and Theres no adjustment left is the reason I'm trying to change the cable. Will changing the cable cure that ?
This is the biggest problem I've had on these little cars.Sad
One more thing, Is there a manual on kickfix? I can't find it.
Thanks

sure,
the cable is first, not one cable lasts the long.
it has to have the proper free play or the clutch will never work right.
x90s are very rare car, and the books on it 100x that. but not here. the factory book. you never said the year so ill guess 1996

ok, bottom off. check, first.
the cable goes thought the fire wall and has mount there, unbolt the mount.
then the top end of the cable has simple shackle (like horse saddle stirrups)

see the last photos for cable and clutch,.
ill look now it he parts drawings.

the push bottom end and wiggle top and the stirrup jump free of the top of pedal HOOK.

see part 25 here?
do you have a new cable yet, having that first, tells the installer , whats possible and not.

inspect of pedal weld breakage, (common as nails with the cables seize as all do)

take out front seat so you can work 10x more easy yet>?

its a shrunken Vitara, and that act only makes service harder.

the x90 is same, deal
same hook on top. just looked, at the parts drawings.
getting it to put back is harder than unhooking it.
at engine side, there are 2 screws at the cable mount, off them.
then push the cable (other end mounts are off)
push cable in say 1 inch or more.
that at the above stated mount, wiggle it and it WILL UNHOOK, at hook 26, see photo?
its putting the hook to sturrip back that is fun, (hard) really seat removed makes all cars easy to fix under dash, 4 bolts and its out.
best way is to USE 2 persons.
one at other end (at bottom of car) fully disconnected. there.
you at top.
then insert the new extended sturrip cable , through the fire wall and get it on the HOOK
the other person pulls cable tight. to keep the stirrup from falling off. then get the other end connected and free play set to spec.
see?

BOOKS, the new book is expensive. its in Paper only... yeah.
use ebay feature to have THEM email you ever time words X90 gets, posted, expect long waits. its a very rare car. only seen one ever.
read x90 photos.
part 26 is the hook.

the cables inside wear a groove (hidden deep inside) that cause it to jam and stick
get rid of the cable now.
new one. only.
