what works so far.
#2
you need a signature, or a profile
we can not guess what car you have like this.
how many miles on it.
when did it last run as daily driver, if parked in barn, how many years, there. sitting? if true, of course.
read all your posts now. please correct any errors i made below.
virtual signature:
93 sidekick 1.6L 16valves, 4door, 4wd, 4 speed a/t,
regardless, the 16v is unique, its mAF based engine, and the maf need to work or power will limited.
dropping that vacuum line, puts fuel pressure the the max.
but to measure fuel pressure, you need the rail adaptor or the harborfrieght, fuel guage kit that fits on the filter, is the filter new>? if not , well there you good, a tuneup part, bad.

its not touchy, all MPI engines like this one work same way, even 40million Corolla's, that way.
This car is 1990s car, my guess.
and back then the PCM (EFI brain) does not have a fuel pressure sensor, like all new cars here have. (it cant tell you errors)
so the PCM can not know its wrong, pressure ever, so the mech must check that first,
and then the MAF sensor pressure, next if fuel is ok.
in my fixkick page type in the search box "pump". with no quotes.
if parked for ages , the injectors will be a mess, (can be as the old fuel turns to gum)

here is the key to engine power on G16b.
engine good, 180psi compression easy.
spark good, (cap/rotor./hf wires/ plugs and gapped to .028" never gapped them to .045 or at makers setting that is wrong, for sure. new.
fuel pressure good. (FPR good + pump good)
injectors not clogged.
MAF working, type maf in my fixkick.com search box, and MAF page shows all ways to test it, with volt meter is super easy to do.

lost or first.
does the ECU on this car blink code 12 on demand, type CEL in the search box same place above. 12 means , OK. (ok means only no gross errors, form sensors)
