Obd reader
#2
There are only 2 readers that work,
the very very old TECH1, readers, with the proper plug-in module matching this year, suzuki, car.
hard to explain this, but here goes. most tools made do not work period. Even the top 10, most expensive tools sold !!!
GM ECU have nothing to do with any Mitsubishi Suzuki, ECU, (with the exaction , of IN USA< the GM/GEO trackers use this same ECU s our SIdekick/trackers)
seen here. (they are not related nor are the brothers) They do work in one small minor regard, in that both use 1 wire to transmit RX/TX serial data.
but the levels are different, and has problems.

very old, and hard to find, Tech1 and for sure still working after all these long years.
and then #2 scan too. modern by John H. of UK, the Rhinoman scan tool. (free software , buy cable (has complex electronics in said cable)
on the same link about click FACT 3.

in some cases the GM cable(only) may work with the Rhino tool but we aware, that the GM levels on the RX side (serial data line) may be no good.
I would never use any cable but a Rhino cable. That way when your gm cable fails, you dont expect John to fix this problem for free.
after all the software is free, so buy the cable. Its best from you and the seller, so support can happen, In my opinion.

europe, sold in Norway
What do I look for to use the GM OBD1 Cables? (plugged it to what?)

on most tools and cars this old 4 things must happen
1: correct cables (including correct level drivers)
2: correct plug-ins for tool,
3: matching tool
4: matching software/firmware support for the exact car, OBD1 Vitara.in this case. and the secret SUZ protocol,

the Rhino tool does this with 2 things, a cable and some software for a laptop. with windows.

not with standing the post from cosmic splatter.. check this out....

his GM cable works, some say they fixed the problem with the suzuki, levels were wrong but there is no way to prove that. only that it was wrong
and seen by me to be wrong, 10 years ago on my scope.
