1996 Geo Tracker hesitation upon quick acceleration
#12
ggod luck to you Gorky, im pulling for you , always.

block open the throttle with a screw driver a the throttle. (for sure all sparks out x4 and fuel and or spark disabled) no fire or shock dangers.
50% open is ok, 100% total max is not nessary, the engine must be allow to suck air, breath, or the test is useless, the test is also a BENCH mark, in that you are comparing to others and FSM.
if you do the test wrong, the readings can not be compare. nor see inter cylinder leaks?

this motor has very limited air with the throttle released. just the IAC, not much ther , like breathing through soft drink straw.
im sure your compression is, it was before, right? it wont change in a month, (i have fingers crossed for you)

you have no spark, but that is normal doing compression as we defeat fuel and spark.
yo have the FI fuse pulled?
off my compression page
"Starting (no pun) in year 1996 the FI fuse is now in the right fender fuse box, do not pull the IG-coil fuse or the key starting path dies."
the trick is to kill spark or fuel or both but not the starter cranking key wire.
on all 96 the FI pulled kills Main relay which kills (not hurt) the ECU. IG coil runs the spark but the ECU is dead now and there will not be spark or injections of any kind.
FI also kills the Fuel pump.
the prevents the fuel from flying outspark hole land on ignition parts and BOOM a huge fire. most cars today can even jump the spark from end of wire to you are anything near buy.

The FI fuse is on the right Fender box ,fuse #7 marked FI.

quote my page (FI pulled)
