Coil on Plug conversion - T3 Turbo G10

There seems to be little information on converting a Suzuki stock ignition which uses an ECU, distributor with CAS (crank angle sensor), single ignition coil and igniter, to a modern ignition system which uses a one per cylinder, coil on plug (COP) set up.

Is there a way to convert to a COP ignition system with only minimal changes to the other ignition components? It seems that something would be needed to take the inputs from the CAS, and then manage when each individual coil should fire. Would this type of change be worthwhile in terms of better ignition performance or reliability?
