LIZARDJUMPER, I was also experiencing loss of power with my engine and I definitely did not need to swap an engine into my car. All I needed was to do a tune up and a few tests to find out what the cause of the issue was.
If I were you my first test would be a "compression test", based on the results then I would move onto other tests and inspection points.
