1989 sidekick misfire when cold or when under electrical load
#21
Thought I would give one final update. I ended up getting a new EGR. Found a good deal on rock auto for a discontinued California model (didn't make a difference)
I also decided to change the gaskets on the throttle body and come to find out after some serious head scratching. The throttle body had a very small coolant leak that would allow coolant to get drawn up and out of two tiny holes on the inside of the throttle body next to the flap. There was never enough coolant being drawn in to cause the oil to get foamy or to notice a drop in the radiator, but it was enough to cause a misfire. I got that all fixed and the kick runs a lot better. It still only gets 19-20 mpg, but it is a hardtop with a 3-speed and 30" tires so I think that is good enough.
