this?

the spacer is called and oil sling'er, and belt back stap,

but no 96 made in usa or canada has such a part, there. ever.

the crank cog, in 1996 had the washer removed slinger. and added and integrated OBD2 1996 tone wheel (spikey thing)
what is engine serial number?

evolution of bottom cog
washer on rear.
then they integrated washer to cog 1995, vin code engine serial G16Smnnnn S=1995
then in 1996 OBD2 became law in USA (only) and the code is not with spikes (tone wheel for CKP crank sensor) engine serial G16Tnnnn 1997 or T , V or W codes 96 to 98 engines.

back side of 96 + sidekicks tracker, USA only , avoid the one on the right.

that bolt probably never once was set to factory torque setting so is like new.
the bolt acts as spring, length wise. the key way is only for timing and has no function for straighth to hold time.

the answer is that curved washer has no use on any USA car 1996 to 1998 G16bs
ever. so must be wrong engine or other person mixed parts off a 92 to 94? engine.

your 96 has this, a ckp and any washer there would make the tone wheel fail hard.

is this sensor missing too.?

Thanks for the great info, The oil slinger came in repair kit with new cog w/tone ring, key and bolt.I didn't put the washer on the first time around. If id only put the seal in on the first repair,I wdnt be writing this.(once again, I'm an idiot) 130k miles on the vehicle, did notice wear on back of factory tone ring, assume due to keyway failure. The new bolt was set to the 94ft/lb but only driven about 15mi when oil seal reared its ugly head.should I replace the bolt again? I used the locktite 271 on the bolt threads witch after reading engineers article aids in proper torque retension and SF7471 locktite primer and the 660 on keyway, the keyway repair was a success.Tore it down last nite, and found no damage to cog pulley,or tone wheel, just main seal failure. If the locktite aids in proper thread retension and help prevent thread stretch,do I order a new bolt? anxious to get her back on the road. Also having a hard time finding parts for the hardtop, weatherstrip, rear gate hardware ect. Some rust but not bad for the Midwest. Purchased for 9 bills and have another couple hundred in parts and supplies. My 3rd Tracker,im addicted! Thanks for helping the newbe. Love this site, will be hearing more from me.
