Help!!! Need Crankshaft/Engine 1600-8V
#11
finding used engines G16 is not easy
few yards have them, of the 1000s
car-parts.com shows them
and are few.
best is to get yours ground, and polished and buy new bearings.
best of best.
any machine shop can do this. and cheap.
one nice end point is all bearing now are same size and clearances, are PERFECT. (no more suzuki color code, bs)

Here it is a year later and ....I bought a 2wd junker for the engine (no good crank had spun brg). Crank might be turned. I swapped stuff for another crankcase and turned crank (.25 mm under). I have fit/ measured the mains and although a little looser than I like, I'm proceeding. I was going to check the thrust clearance, but have not found it either in the FSM or in your data. I must be missing it. Could someone point me in the correct direction?

Thanks!

that is in all SM in print,
all side/kicks/trackers, vitara.
end play, is the other slang words
there are 2, rod side clearance (play)
and the crank mains, thrust plates . to be custom fit on a new crank or rebuilt
click the welcome screen here, post #1and see many free books,

or here see my taBLE HERE. .0044 MINIMUM?

Yeah, I'm an imbecile! It was right there even had a picture. I was hurrying. I was referring to crank end play as thrust. Clearance (from memory) is .001-.015 inches. Mine was more than 8 and less than 12, so good there. Thanks for reminding me that I need to check rod side clearance. SHOULD be ok on reground crank, but I know what I get for thinking. I got sick with the crud last week and todays the first day I have returned to it.

THANKS A MILLION!!

the numbers are hard to get out of one book
the author spoons one out at a time. page by page.
finding a good table can be hard.
the rod sides should be ok, its for finding heavy damage when rob big end bearing gets hot. (this gap also can change oil pressure)
the end play I think only goes bad on heavy used stick shift, actions, (theory)
good luck
(make sure the .050 head oil gallery orifice is clean) hint

cheers

Well, I was coming back to say I now have a few tanks of gas through it and it seems to be doing fine!

I probably should have given the top end more attention, but it was good except for the crank pulley problem; I just did the lower end. I should be spanked for taking the chance, I know!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!!!
