92 vss code 24
#41
ah a 4wd upgrade like mine, see left (driver) front left frame rail next to engine, for 4wd mount, see weld marks there? bingo convert.
did you run an online free vin check see if 2wd pops up.
the 2wd had no TACHO.
all this is GEO tracker, open glove box, GM puts a build sheet , see axle ratios,?
here is my decode page for this (i have the microfilms on all GE0)

here are my Ufilims inverted by me to black on white, only I have this data.
my tag pages over more. type tag in my search box at fixkick.com all this is there.

http://www.fixkick.com/specs/RPO/RPO.html

more (see x codes at end is 4wd)

some have crash plates up front and below transfer case, mine had both 91;
but all that was added of other wreck car buy unknown others..
to mine.
i upgraded my speedo to tacho level harness does not change for that feature.
the ECU man get very upset with no VSS
depends on year, (software in ECU)
the clue is bad fuel mileage... not 24-28mpg, mine did 28 like clock work.

The vin.# says it is a 2wd. I had a chance to look at the spec sheet on the hood and got the numbers off of the engine and transmission to see if everything agreed. I haven't found much info. on those numbers. The glove box sheet is in pretty bad shape but I got some codes off of it. It is from Canada. I will look tomorrow for the welded frame. Was this a kit or someone just decided to convert it to 4wd from used parts? Greg

By the way, it is showing a 5.25 ratio and if I read right (some of the codes were illegible) it had ng1 for NY. Also, it had the code for port of entry as CAMI. The plot thickens. Greg

Since I don't really know what has been changed on this thing, I think I'm going to buy a 10/12 head off of eBay. If nothing else, I may be able to get the switch and any other hardware off of it that mine is missing. Everything I've seen on eBay is Fed and mine is supposed to be Canadian. Is there any compatibility between these two? Greg

good morning.
the first (Kicks) were made ,first 3 months of 1989 in Iwata japan, then CAMI production plant in Canada cam on line, (GM/suzuki joint plant that made Geo's/ and sidekicks and vitaras' side by side)
that hood sticker will say USA, EPA, and that NY code means for restricted states (NY and Calif, are /were that)

where the car is made and what market are 2 different things, CAMI shipped cars world wide, even to GERMANY. (e22)
Geo's where shipped to , CANADA, MARKET as, e28 , usa, E3/E33 FED/CALIF AND MEXICO, AND US POSSESSIONS (ISLANDS ) AND AFRICA AND EVEN RUSSIA.
And sold in Canada as Sunrunners, or Pontiacs. shocking yes,, (all are same car, cept, smog parts and lighting , (laws on tires,/etc)

before buying a used head . ? consider. (ask me P/n and will tell what it was off)
1: see rear view, for 10/12,
2: MPH front. not KPH. (you will not like the Kilometer per hour head, im sure)
3: Tag on bottom is Suz. Part number of whole head make sure its 92/93 (see my pdf page or for all USA heads, all are in MPH, E3 and E33 heads, (fed/calif codes)
4: and promise of no DOA. (works and no noises, load squealing as most do this old)
5: about 1/2 the fleabay sellers forgot what year the head came from and worse far worst think they fit all 89-98s years, sad but the tag dont lie. nor the look of it.
6: worse yet, the photo presented is a useless stock photo (random) run. (or demand real photos of front, rear and tag data)
the heads are getting rare (less work now) and prices are crazy. due to rarity.

Too bad the RPO tag is wrecked, no matter...

btw vast numbers of 2wd were converted to 4wd
with (front axle put there, transfer case and the 4wd trans adapter, front prop shaft , and mounts)
its and easy job, no magic computers, no electric(or vacuum opr) front axles, no motor drive transfer-cases to mess with, just simple , mechanics. (cept that 1 tricky weld up front left, frame rail) sure a donor car is needed, usually a wreck or Rust out.

5.12:1 is correct match to 5speed, and 4wd, both axles will be 5.12 (must)

you are correct just a good internal meter will be great. (mph) no parts missing and 92/93 dates

Got a speedometer head coming. I bought it off eBay. Supposed to be a 92 model with tach. By the way, can you crank up and drive without the speedometer. I need to move this thing from my basement to a shed behind the house. I don't want to mess it up worse than it already is. Greg

sure, it will drive ok, some drive perfect with stick shift.
some ECU's do not punish you for VSS dead, (some will only have slight power loss say up hills)
Its the least important sensor on 5sp cars.
on automatics its the Back up sensor for main VSS on tail shaft of last transmission

you're , OK.

Thanks! I really didn't want to put it back in just to move it across the yard. We've got bad weather coming (with hail) and my wife wants the carport back. I'm gonna put my 72 nova back in the basement. Musical cars! Greg.
