R&R fuel pump 93 4door sidekick - Lon - 03-30-2016

I want to replace fuel pump without removing the tank.
Need location of pump in tank to cut access hole into rear deck.
Thanks I hope!

Hello
some here did that and even showed photo's and measurements
id just jack up just the rear right side if car, keeping left rear tire on ground , lets body go up and tire stay low
then look at the top of tank, or remove left rear tire
now see that pump ring mount?
using chock mark side of tank there, L/R line .
the do so at rear of tank, now measure those to inside car. X marks the spot.
the best way is tank out, cut it for next time, or drill hole there dead center, and plug it for next time.
projecting lines is not easy. lots of work, more than dropping tank. once drained.

one more way, after chocking tank, is to drill tiny holes on front of tank at body. slop (under car laying there)
that gets CL (center line F/R)
then with same chock marks, on side of tank, drill tiny hole in body, now you have X , Y, holes, and they cross a the center of pump rack.

here is my 2door
the top if tank is in full view here, so you can mark it all up easy (pretty easy) for protections to body.
i cleaned it up with engine cleaner soaks to get it all super clean, as you dont want dirt in tank, easy to do your way....

I'll share a pic of mine I took out to replace the fuel pump.

i do not have the X/Y measurements project up to tank, but know how to do it easy on car.

mark tank front and right side, with chock.
them with those drill tiny hole (say a #60 drill)
into body, cavity, shell, on side, see that flat surface.
then drill from below aligned with other chock mark.
now inside car chock line hole X to Y... make a cross, bingo, center line of rack top.
if not wanting to drill holes, then you get to project outside to inside, no simple task that.
the right side is easy,
but not front of tank to rear.
and no way to measure from rear with bumper attached.

ive only seen like 3 posts. world wide, doing this of 1000s...
and all were crude and missed the mark, meaning hole was enlarged 2 times. (ugly mess that)
if done carefull
one has a free cover, use weld on side tangs (2 or 4)
with 2 screws or 4. to body. (cargo floor)
and then RTV glue it after remounted.

the rack fits down the big hole.
the damaged rack looks like this.

there is a post here somewhere here, that did this
and IIRC was off to the left, by 4 inches and needed to be cut 2 times, ugly
so measure care and go bigger on the cut,
say 12" square cut hole with saws all and metal cutting piranha blades
the weld a top rim to the new led, say 2 inch flat 20 gage metal, and then screw it back down. use the cut core as a new lid.
with the right trim of inside body removed, the L/R measurement can be exact, as seen in my red photo
making only F/R measure the hard one.
that is where id drill a hole upfront and use it as reference point for the next measurements.
