Need O2 sensor P/N - Azplinker - 12-18-2015

Hi Fixkick,
I need confirmation that I have chosen the correct three-wire O2 sensor for my car. It's a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick, 4dr, automatic, 4WD, 1.6L, 16V, Here are the two sensors I picked out from Rockauto:
DENSO 2344060
NTK 24617
I attached a photo of the Exhaust manifold, It's a short one with the separate double downpipe section to the catalytic converter.

Also need to know if these other photos show a collapsed lower pipe or is this normal?

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - fixkick - 12-18-2015

best i can tell for such a small photos and blurry
its a short header, with 3 studs.
and those had a 4 wire harness plug (female) '

does yours?
engine swaps, header swaps and more, can confuse all this. so I use the harness as the KEY factor. (ECU is really, the final say)

http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/OxyGen_sensor_help.html#oxy-parts
i even made a full bosch matrix table above., before they wrecked there sensor page.

NGK shows your p/n and 1 more.
http://www.partcat.com/ngk

that denso number is 4wire,

that NGK is listed as 3 wire, and is not used in 1992, the 94 year, yes, on the fed long header,

you must know that Suzuki uses same VIN engine codes for 4 engines, 8v 16v and fed and calif sensros. 4 types.
so all stores get this wrong.
the cure is reading real CATALOGs from bosch , NGK,

the correct 02 is 13073 (bosch)

on my same page is the Denso. xxx 4060 like you found.

that NGK catalog, wow what tricky bugger
soft-top means 8v.
hard top means 16v, (silly idea that ,soft/hard...)

so the 16v must be. 24617 but hark, the say in the spec, its 3 wire, and that is wrong.
not easy that.

why not just buy bosch./?
they work and we know the numbers and are on sale all over.

that being said.
the 3wire sensor works ok on the 4 wire car harness, and will have a weak ground (the whole reason 4 wire works best)
but not the other way, 4 oxy to a 3 wire harness.

so what's on your harness.

the other oddity is sellers thinking 2 door cars have no 16v engines until 1996. (they are more rare but were sold , all over earth)

the 4 wire has and extra ground that uses the ECUs special ground for 100% accurate readings at all times, not using rusty manifolds for connections...

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - Azplinker - 12-18-2015

This is a shot of the ECU end of O2 sensor plug. It may have been modified by PO. The manifold is indeed a shorty with 3 bolt end.

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - fixkick - 12-18-2015

that is a stock 3 pin
that green thing is to keep out water due to missing pin in a real 4 pin shell.
ok not sure why its 3 pin.
but yes, use the 3 pin sensors, the 4 will fail.. (unless you add a ground)

delphi 10963 old #? ES10047 new.
bosch 15701
denso 234-3014
ntk(NGK) 24617

when you pick one, let me know and will read the full data sheet on it to be sure its correct.
last 3 wire was 1995.

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - Azplinker - 12-18-2015

Thanks. Guess I'll pick this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oxygen-Sensor-OE-Style-BOSCH-15701-/291630312590?hash=item43e6856c8e:g:yaAAAOSw8-tWX4k4&vxp=mtr

Did you get a chance to look at the downpipe photos? Is there a problem with those narrowing areas inside?

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - fixkick - 12-18-2015

sorry been sleeping...
its 3 pins, good.
it's for sure, for G16 engines. for sure, but ... lots of different G16 setups.
does the connector match yours?( all i see is back side, so.... cant say)
yours would have protruding female pins, (very very unique designed, and key to success) Suzuki used 2 types. so...... all this fun....

here is me wiring in my new 4wire. using the bosch unversal, style.
http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/O2%20sensor/25L/REBUILT_02.JPG
note that the 4 wire has very different connector type,

http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/O2%20sensor/25L/Sensor_conn_fw.jpg

so the connector type is key here, make it match. correctly.

I would love to have a photo of the other side of that harness connector.? I'd add it to my page.

lots of variants in 5 years. one version even runs 02 relay, and has other wire colors... confusing everyone. and GM (GE) versus Suzuki variances.

the universal type solves most the problems. but you need to wire 2 grounds to 1 pin, and that can be Not fun.
as they say the "devil is in those details."

Are any of these useful?

Hate to beat a dead horse, but did you get a chance to look at the downpipe photos? Is there a problem with those narrowing areas inside?

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - fixkick - 12-19-2015

those are the right pins, male + female, very unique and is correct to the bosch, best i can tell.

bosch 15701

use google to find good deals, seen them as cheap at $25. new.

im going to use your photos, do you need "contrib, name there"?

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - Azplinker - 12-19-2015

Ok, thanks.

no need for contrib notice.

You talk about the down pipe being obstructed:
Warning 2: The new down pipe 92/93 , was recalled by TSB SC-01 oct92 ( 92s , and all 93s except Calif) {only 4door cars}
The 3 bolt correct 90º Pipe (if needed) is 14190-57B12/13 (3rd revision !) The TSB is here to read.

RE: Need O2 sensor P/N - fixkick - 12-19-2015

the only issue here, is if the inside, liner collapses and blocks the exhaust.
easy fix, if true remove the liner.
that liner used to glow red hot and help the CAT light off. (like an afterburner on a jet)
its not needed ,
just keep it air tight and the 02 oxy has a chance of working.

yours look ok best i can tell.
if it looks like it can flow free exhaust with 1.6L engine, its ok.
