proves fpr leaks
hard proof
so who sold you that FPR, ebay? cloners?
the market if full of junk sold
it might run great just run it see if it works ok for you.
if the PFR only fails this way, only takes 1second more to start car. no big deal for most folks.

really nice video
of the pinch test, super nice and clear.
thanks for doing that !!!!

Thanks kick! You the man. Sadly I went ahead and traded that in for another and same results. Gona have fun arguing with the store telling them their second part was also defective. Oreilly is who sold it to me. Iv has issues with defective parts from them before so it’s not my first rodeo. I’d like everything to be as spec so that I know it’s purring like a kitten.

the FPR must close fully key off
that is one of its 2 rules

it saves the starter mostly.
no extra cranking.
but all parts now are cloned, it seems and will not be so well made as stock.
the other bad side is now injector leaks can not be discovered. (the leakdown test finds them)
ouch.

just updating you that it was the FPR and i replaced 2 before i got one that finally held everything is good now it holds and i dont see any leaking injectors. now im repacing the exhaust manifold. found a used one that didnt have a crack and purchased it. just waiting for it to arive. once the exhaust system is done then she is ready to roll. thanks for all your help! i will be checking back an if there is anything i help with on any forums i will try my best to give proper information.

yes that exhaust crack most times
even when first cracked does not leak.
but then later does and then 02 goes nuts.
the aftermarket headers can work far better and never crack so easy
must be sure the EGR works (has one, there on tube 4)

Ok kick wanted to give you an update as your awesome and im sure you wonder about the people who ask questions.
After dealing with all the bog issues i put entire exhaust on and WOW were you right. the back pressure is definitely needed for the EGR to work.
New CAT,O2 sensor, Muffler and with that used (non cracked) manifold the exhaust was ready to rock. It drove like a champ but i could still feel bog.
Had not timed ignition correctly yet so i did that (8 degrees for Cali) and it fixed everything.
CEL was burned out so i swapped it with one of the others cluster lights so i could get it smogged. Code 12 all day even when driving. I will buy new bulbs online to your spec (40mA for CEL).
The sidekick is Automatic so i checked for Trans Codes and 12 all day so thats good.
Got it smogged with full tires and 91 octane gas and it passed! so its ready to be registered but i have one question.....

That loose valve i told you about when i valve lashed is really loud now. How hard is it to rebuild the heads on these 16v? anything i should know about driving it like it is?

RE: 16v 1.6L Bad bog questions - fixkick - 02-17-2018

so it was combo of issues, nice job, good work.
getting EGR to work can be very hard, if the quadra ports are clogged, up, imagine 2 of 4 clogged, ouch..
i wish you al ong life for you and your sidekick.
cheers !

16v heads, is best find a shop that say , excels in toyota's , they know what to do.
but some parts in that head if broken like those funny, keeper springs are only sold at Suzuki, (ask)
