In the process of torqueing them to the FSM spec 2 of them twisted off.

fetcher,

Yes that is the one I need. I also came up with the same part number from suzukiparts website. I believe the GM part number is 96068601. That link is a nice find. I never knew of that website. Thank you.

RE: 96 Tracker to 96 Sidekick - Samoo3 - 09-29-2017

any updates about this build?

RE: 96 Tracker to 96 Sidekick - fixkick - 09-29-2017

FSM spec 2 , (warning GM makes errors in their book) (tracker. and ive documented each , long ago)

that is in inch lbs. not foot.
100inch 8.3 ft/pounds

search lash word here....

http://www.fixkick.com/specs/torque1.html

the true spec for lash nuts are
132 inch/lbs

NOT FOOT never.

the gm blunders are here
http://www.fixkick.com/IGN_timing/error-galore.html

those bolts are hard. (lots of clones are weak junk, think of the abuse they get ever time a valve opens ?) high grade metal here. works only.
suzuki still sells them, type the numbers here.
it does not use motorcycle parts
i told you the PN, its 12842-32411 only

here it is again
https://www.suzukicarparts.com/parts/1995/Suzuki/Sidekick/JS/index.cfm?action=partDetail&section=ENGINE&group=CYLINDER%20HEAD%20%26%20VALVES&subgroup=CYLINDER%20HEAD%20%26%20VALVES&component=VALVE%20LIFTERS&partnumber=1284232411&vehicleid=187789&siteid=214820

i can't imagine how to lose 16 part (32 with nuts)
one maybe?
id find donor head first. $150, mix and match. (see chevy tracker) or sidekick suzuki

RE: 96 Tracker to 96 Sidekick - fixkick - 09-29-2017

ID 10, see my first post, I put the actual and real suzuki page up there, see it? with ID and P/n , no secret now. the real deal.
12846-61D00-000

later suzuki added the -000 it's no big deal, every suzuki dealer knows this. but below hates the ending 000...go figure..

lost all intake rocker screws? or all 32? , you never said QUANTITY YET, (make buying parts 10x more easy, on rare suzuki parts.)

suzuki is chapter 11 here, so to pay for that death, they overcharge on parts. Like $1200 MAF sensors.
here is the calif . price, (yah more)

http://suzukiautomotiveparts.com/1996-suzuki-x_90-base-gas_1.6_l_4-transmission_automatic_trans_speeds-oem-oem-lash_adjuster_1284661D00-item/

16 x $6.01 (in calif) one thing never to on any G16 is lose hard to buy internal engine parts,, best is have 2 engines,, one donor or go broke fast.

avoid the foot/lb, wrench, totally ... on the small screws...

I Know, people come here with their car problems and I try to do my best to help because someday I will have a problem and I
hope that someone might help.

Then, they just disappear, never saying if the problem got solved or not.

RE: 96 Tracker to 96 Sidekick - fixkick - 10-01-2017

it is really a non problem.
it's a buy parts issue.
and finding parts for key driveline parts, NOT from SUZUKI is hard, or impossible.
it's really about luck.
lucking out finding parts, hard to find,

wind shild wiper, no prob.
rocker parts, not so.

RE: 96 Tracker to 96 Sidekick - Shadetree - 10-02-2017

Sorry for the long delay on this post. I needed 2 ea that had broke when torqing. I did order them from suzukiparts website. The parts actually came from Toms Truck Center in Garden Grove, CA. I ordered a few extra for future just in case. The rebuild went good. It took a lot of time but turned out great. Without this website I never could have completed this rebuild. Thank you Fixkick and all that post here. So to sum it up. The engine had been rebuilt by Jasper sometime in the past. I did have the crankshaft ground. It had some grooving on the journals. The cylinders were already bored .75 mm over. The pistons and cylinders all looked good and measured with in tolerance so I installed new piston rings and honed the cylinders. Replaced oil pump, water pump, timing belt kit, EGR valve, and new exhaust to include Cat and oxygen sensors. I currently have about 2,000 miles on the rebuild and man does it have power compared to before the teardown. Again thank you fixkick for having this forum and the website with all the information.
